**In Collaboration**
If you ask anyone what the most stressful thing they’ve ever done is, it’s almost guaranteed that moving house will be up there. It’s expensive, time-consuming and sometimes just frustrating. This is especially the case if you have a lot of different expensive items that require a very high level of care. If you want to turn the whole situation around, there are a few things that you can do to try and help yourself.
Create a To-Do List
The first thing that you need to do is create a to-do list. You need to write down absolutely everything here, whether it’s changing over your utilities or simply shredding some documents. You might also want to sort out your TV cable and to also find out where your pet is going to go. Little things like this can really help you to make the most out of your moving experience and you would be surprised at how much of a difference it could make to the big day.
Handle One Room at a Time
You also need to make sure that you handle a single room at a time. This will reduce your stress by a huge amount, and you may even find that you are able to get everything sorted out much easier. When you have packed up one room, you can then move everything else you have in there, so that you don’t have to worry about everything piling up.
Start Packing ASAP
If you leave the packing until the last minute, then you won’t be doing yourself any favours. Start sooner rather than later because if you don’t then you may find that things take much longer than you realise. Get a few storage tubs and put them into three different categories. They need to be labelled as being “keep” “sell” and “throw away”. This will help you to de-clutter and it also stops you from moving items that you don’t need anymore. Believe it or not, packing boxes are now easier than ever to come by, and you’ll probably need way more than you think too, so make sure that you invest in them as early as you can.
Have a Labelling System
Labelling boxes for your move might seem easy, but you have to make sure that you are specific. You might think that you’ll remember where the kitchen utensils are now, but will you in 2-3 weeks? Probably not. If you want to get around this then you need to make sure that you label your boxes in a numerical format, for example, “kitchen-1” and “kitchen-2”. When you do this, you then need to have a list of everything that is in box one and box two etc. This will help you to know where everything is without you having to write down everything on the box itself. This can save you a great deal of time and it also reduces stress when the time comes for you to move into your new home.
