**In Collaboration**
If you are due to go on an adventurous vacation, then you will know how exciting this can be. You may feel as though you have endless things planned and that you just can’t wait to do them all. If this sounds like you then here are a few tips that will help to get you underway.
Try and be Knowledgeable
It’s always a good idea for you to do as much research as you can on currency, customs, the local language and even the area you are visiting too. If you overlook any of these then you may end up insulting someone without even knowing about it, when this could have been completely avoided.
Become a Master of Travel
The last thing that you want is to have to pick up a huge range of toiletries when you arrive because you’ve forgotten just about everything. If you want to get around this then you need to prepare in advance so you can spend more time enjoying your vacation. If you want to help yourself here then write down everything you might need when you arrive, and then gradually cross them off as you pack. This will help you to avoid forgetting anything super important.
Organise your ID
Your ID and your money should always be kept on your person. If you are going to be doing a lot of backpacking, then it’s a great idea for you to invest in a money belt. When you do, you’ll be able to keep track of everything without having to worry about it weighing down your pockets.
Travel Light
It’s pretty common to overpack for just about any adventure. To avoid this, consider leaving as much as you can at the hotel. This will give you the chance to travel lighter and it will also help you to be much more in the current moment. It also helps you to pick up more souvenirs along the way.
Make Unexpected Purchases
You really do never know what treasures you might come across when you are on your journeys. It doesn’t matter whether you pick up some handmade shoes or whether you pick up trinkets from a local stall because you should always leave room in your bag so that you can take it all home with you.
Prepare to be Physically Challenged
If you are thinking about trying to climb one of the biggest mountains in the world then you need to do your fair share of preparation work. This could include getting in shape or it may even mean taking the right fuel with you. Most of the time energy bars are great for this and they can even help you to maintain your stamina too.
Learn the Local Currency
Sometimes you may need multiple currencies to help you to get around a certain destination. If this is the case, then you need to make sure that you plan out as much as you can in advance. This could involve you going to a local currency exchange service halfway through your vacation, or it may even mean trying to take enough cash to cover your entire trip. Either way, it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you plan the right stops. Not all countries have an accessible currency exchange.
Bring the Right Gear
When going on an adventure vacation, you have to bring the right gear. For example, if you are going backpacking, it is wise to take a comfortable bag with you that’s lightweight. It may even be helpful to make sure that it has a drink compartment too. If you’re going to be working out a lot on the other hand, then some compression socks may help to keep your legs from swelling. It may be worth taking some topical skin anaesthetic too, as you never know when you’re going to be injured or when you’re going to need some kind of treatment. This is especially the case if you are partaking in dangerous activities.
Don’t Plan too Much
When you are going on an adventure vacation, you have to make sure that you don’t plan to do too much. For example, if you are planning on sightseeing then it is important that you work out how much time you need to everything you want. When you have your estimated time, add on another hour to give you some leeway with traffic. If you end up doing too much, then you may wear yourself out for the next day and this is the last thing that you need.
Take a Map with You
Sure, planning things like bungee jumping or even scuba-diving is great, but if you don’t actually know where you are going, you won’t get very far. Consider taking a map with you so you can find out exactly where you need to go. You may have a map on your phone and this is great, but if your phone dies or if you get out of signal, this can cause you major issues. This is especially the case when you think about most activities being in wide-open areas that aren’t necessarily close to major cities.
Hire your Equipment
It doesn’t matter what kind of adventure you are going on because it always helps to hire your equipment as much as possible. If you don’t then you may find that you end up carrying the bulk of it around with you and this can cause you issues at customs. So if you’re planning on skiing in The Alps, hire their skis and boots. If you’re backpacking up Kilimanjaro, ask a local guide service if you can go with them and use their backpacks. They’d usually be more than happy to let you do this and sometimes it can be a fantastic way for you to try and meet up with other people who have a very similar interest to you as well. If you’re struggling, search online before your trip to try and connect with the right people.
