Do you feel bored with your job? Are you sick of getting up at the same time every day, getting on the same bus and sitting in the same office chair?
There will be times in everyone’s life when we feel stuck in a rut. It could be your personal life or it could be your working life, but what we do know is that you need to break yourself out of this rut as quickly as you can in order to be happier overall. If you need some inspiration, here are some ways you can pull yourself out of a rut and get back on track.
Start small
When you’re feeling stuck in a rut it can be hard to imagine doing anything at all. A lot of the time boredom sets in and all motivation to try new things or change out lifestyle falls by the wayside. However, to make a change you need to start somewhere, and often the smallest tasks can be ideal. For example, changing your routine in the evening to fit in a 10 minutes workout can be just what you need to feel more motivated.
Take a break from work
If work is getting you down and you are starting to feel like just another cog in their machine, you need to get away from this setting for a while and enjoy different scenery and a different routine. To get out of this mental slump, make a dramatic change and plan days out in your favourite places for a week or so and do some fun activities that you have wanted to try for a while.
Fill your head with knowledge
When you feel stuck in a rut, you will often want to make a change and bring some inspiration back to your workplace and your lifestyle. If you are bored at work and want to progress further you need to take yourself to a seminar or a talk and gain that love for the subject which you used to have. You will be able to return to your job with motivation and you’ll be ready to take on the world.
Talk it out
We aren’t suggesting to go straight into counselling, however, talking or someone about your issues and your concerns can make a big difference to your life. You will feel like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders and your friends and family will be able to offer you some advice coming from a different perspective. It might be the best thing you can do because you will start to see your issue for what it really is and this can help you tackle it and move on.
Don’t try to be perfect
Striving for perfection might seem like great motivation to be a better person, but if your search perfection becomes a little intense you may struggle to stop yourself from being obsessive over it all. The idea of perfection is a toxic one because there is no one on this earth who is perfect. You should never strive to be perfect, just strive to be the best you can be. By doing this you will still be able to be motivated and you will have attainable goals to reach for instead of crazy dreams.
Make a vision
Everyone should have goals to work towards in life. Your goals should be to do with bettering yourself as a person, trying and experiencing everything you can in life, and making the most of your time here on Earth. If you don’t have any goals you want to work towards this might be a reason why you are feeling stuck in an endless cycle of life. You need to have things to move towards because this is what will give you the motivation to succeed in life.
Read a book
When you are feeling uninspired and bored with your life, the best thing you can do a lot of the time is find a form of escapism and go away for a while. For example, reading a book filled with adventure and fantasy can be a really wonderful way to gain some clarity and to allow your mind to wander away from life for a while. You will often find that books can inspire you to do new things and motivate you to succeed, so they are always a great choice.
Sleep
If you never get enough sleep, this can be a big factor in your not feeling yourself. When we are sleep deprived we often live through life in a blur and on autopilot. This can be a struggle because by the time we get to work we are exhausted and we just want the day to be over and done with. Try going to bed earlier at night and give yourself some time to recover.
Remember your reason
When we hate our job and everything to do with it, we can often feel incredibly dejected and this can lead us to feel depressed and sick of life in general. When you do start to feel like this you need to think about why you are doing this. Are you saving up for your own house? For your wedding? Or for your own business venture? When you sit back and remember your reason for working and living the way you do, you can feel more positive about it all.
Challenge yourself
If you are bored, the best thing you can do is set yourself a big challenge and step outside your comfort zone. By trying something totally new you will be able to learn things about yourself that you never knew as well as get yourself out of that mental rut. Go for a holiday somewhere you have never been, go on a scary rollercoaster, and go scuba diving in the sea. Challenge your mind and your body and you will reap some amazing rewards once it is all done. You will be invigorated and ready to tackle anything that comes your way.
