I don’t post beauty content very often, however I feel like I have finally found an effective skin routine that I want to share. I was lucky enough to have very few blemishes and pimples during my teenage years, but during my PhD my skin was full of pimples, scars, and redness.
When seeking advice regarding this, the consensus was that it is hormonal acne- probably in part caused by stress. Another thing I can thank my thesis for! I have tried so many different products but have finally found one that I have seen a noticeable difference with. You will notice that there are a lot of Dermalogica products, while these aren’t the cheapest out there, I find that they last ages and genuinely work.
I am not sponsored by Dermalogica, however some of the links are affiliates via a website that I purchase my products from.
Precleanse– This oil based cleanser is my first step after removing my makeup in the evening.
Special Cleansing Gel– I love this gel so much that I recently purchased a giant bottle. It is a gentle cleanser but removes all my makeup. I use this both morning and evening.
Multi-Active Toner– This is a spray based toner which I find so refreshing. It hydrates my skin and doesn’t feel like alcohol which some toners can. I use this after cleansing morning and evening.
Daily Microfoliant – This is probably my favourite product of all. It is a powder based exfoliant that is gentle enough that I use everyday. As you only need a tiny bit I also find that this lasts SO LONG. I use it every morning, after cleanser but before toner.
Biolumin-c serum– This is my newest (and most expensive) skin care purchase. I had been told by a few people that vitamin C is good for reducing acne scars and redness. I have only been using this for about a month, but I have found that my redness around my chin is minimising. I purchased this product from myhaircare.com.au (one of the reasons I love this website) and got a free upgrade to a peel set !
CeraVe moisturiser- One of the only non Dermalogica products in my everyday skin care routine. It is the best moisturiser I have found that is light, doesn’t clog my pores, and makes my skin dewy. It is also super affordable. In Australia one of the only places to purchase it is The Chemist Warehouse.
Simple Micellar Water- Micellar water is a staple for many people, it is what I use to remove makeup every day. I love the Simple brand.
Last but not least, my reusable make up removers. I use this to remove my makeup everyday (I put the micellar water straight onto these). They save you money and save the environment- you can use them for a while and then wash them in the washing machine. I purchased mine from Flora & Fauna.
