This is another adventure version of the ‘day-to-day life of a PhD student’, if you have not seen the Tasmania Adventure one yet go here.
This time I am on the other side of the world exploring Edinburgh, which has made a wonderful first impression on me!
7:14am:Â I went to bed really early last night & slept for a huge 12 hours (due to being so exhausted from the journey over here), so I am up early, enjoying a coffee.
8:20am:Â After talking to mum on the phone, I am all ready and rugged up for breakfast!
8:36am:Â The hotel where I’m staying is surrounded by so many cafes and restaurants- It was overwhelming deciding where to go- but I was happy with my choice. The waffles were delicious. If you ever find yourself in Edinburgh, craving waffles check out Papii!
9:28am:Â Edinburgh is like no big city I’ve ever visited before- there are no modern buildings, they are all old and full of character!
9:43am: Thanks to a suggestion from one of my Instagram followers, I decided to check out Calton Hill. It was snowing! I was so excited to see snow falling from the sky for the first time, it was probably very obvious to everyone that i’m not a local.
11:48pm:Â It is really snowing now!
12:26pm:Â I then decided to visit the Botanic Gardens (a suggestion from a different Instagram follower!). It was such a nice way to spend a couple of hours- and I am so glad I got to visit whilst it was under snow. I even saw a squirrel for the first time!
2:24pm:Â On the hunt for a late lunch!
2:33pm: I found another cute café to have a quick bite.
3:28pm:Â Back in the hotel now- my legs are sore from walking so much. I think it will take me a while to get used to the fact that the sunsets before 4 over here.
4:41pm:Â I’ve had a shower and will most likely spend the rest of the night snuggled in front of the TV eating left over pizza! I am joining my tour tomorrow so am happy to rest tonight.
