I don’t actually know where to begin with this book. Honestly, Where the Crawdads Sing has cemented itself in my heart and I don’t think that I will forget this book for a long time. It is truly an incredible piece of writing.
On the surface, Where the Crawdads Sing is a murder mystery x love story x coming of age journey. But below it is so much more than that. It is poetic, crafted in a way where no attention to detail is forgotten, emotional, and moving. It makes you conflicted. It makes you sad. It makes you happy. It makes you empathetic. It makes your mind wander… out where the crawdads sing. PS. A crawdad is a crayfish (for those of you like me who had no idea).
Kya, the main character, is one of the most dynamic characters I have ever meet in a book.
This is Delia’s first fiction book. Delia has a PhD in animal behaviour and her love of nature and scientific knowledge is showcased in a creative and lyrical way throughout the novel.
I can’t recommend this book more.
Purchase Where the Crawdads Sing.
