Last week, I was lucky enough to meet Dr. Jane Goodall and attend her tour. I have been a volunteer for the Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots organisation for a few years now, I was previously the state coordinator but due to #phdlife I gave that up. As I am still a volunteer though, I got to help organise the Adelaide part of Jane’s tour. It was honestly such an inspiring day. Dr. Jane has a way of speaking that is so humble and engaging. She is an inspiration as a scientist, as a conservationist, and as a science communicator.
The day involved watching Jane present to a group of youth zoo volunteers at the Adelaide Zoo and Jane then had a tour around to see some of the exhibits. Then I worked at the public lecture that Jane was presenting at with host Dr. Alan Duffy– who is also amazing!
If you are interested in science, animals, conservation, or science communication and get the opportunity to see Dr. Jane Goodall, definitely grab that opportunity with two hands. Also, you can find out more about the amazing work Jane does and how you can get involved (click here).
