2 Years of Dr.ofwhat!

Dr.ofwhat is officially two years old, which is actually really hard to believe as it feels like the longest and quickest two years of my life simultaneously.

I was so nervous to start a blog. I always knew that I wanted to because I really enjoyed writing and loved reading other peoples blogs. But I was terrified, and I didn’t know what to write about. When I started my PhD I finally knew what I wanted to say, but I was still terrified to put myself out there, and I didn’t want anyone to know about dr.ofwhat because I didn’t want people to watch it fail.

But I took the leap, and to my surprise it grew quicker and gave me more opportunities, connections, inspiration, and therapy than I could have ever imagined. Dr.ofwhat is my outlet. Doing a PhD is more difficult and draining than I ever anticipated and throw in the horrible things that happened in my personal life, and the last two and a bit years have been an utter whirlwind (full of the lowest lows and the highest highs). This blog has always been able to centre me and allowed me to reflect on my feelings and experiences. That alone has made it worth it.

Even more rewarding though, I have had so many people over the last two years contact me saying that they have loved watching my journeys (PhD, travel, and personal alike), which is something I never expected. 240 wordpress followers, 24,800 views on the blog, and 3,800 followers on Instagram. It genuinely humbles me that so many people have connected with my blog in someway.

So where to from here?

It is funny to look back on my one year of blogging post and see what I wanted to achieve in this past year, and I have definitely achieved some. My goals for the next year are a little different though. As I have said in a previous blog post, I am blogging a little less due to the craziness of the PhD. But, that doesn’t mean I am not hoping to continue growing dr.ofwhat. I want to share my final year of my PhD, share a few more adventures I have planned, hopefully continue to find ways to share other people’s stories, and share a really exciting video project that I have been working on for the last 10 months (which will hopefully come to fruition in the second half of the year).

Oh, and the big ones. I hope to finish my PhD (or be SUPER close to finishing) & I hope to continue to ‘just bloody live’.Β

So follow along for the next 365 days…
