Orphaned Baby Elephant ‘Moyo’ overcomes his fear of water

At just a few days old, baby elephant Moyo was found alone & near drowning on the shores of Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe. After several unsuccessful days of searching for his mother, conservationists at ‘Wild is Life Zen Sanctuary’ took the elephant into their care. Following 14 months of therapy, Moyo has largely overcome his fear. Watch this cute AF clip of him playing in water for the first time:

Adidas sold 1 million pairs of their shoe range made from recycled plastic

The Ultraboost range, made in partnership with environmental organisation, ‘Parley for the Oceans’, reuses the equivalent of 11 plastic bottles per pair of shoes. With 1 million sold, that’s 11 million less plastic bottles in the ocean!

Company recycles cigarette filters

New Jersey-based firm, Terracycle, is part of a global network of businesses, cities, and consumers that collect used cigarette filters (made from a durable plastic called cellulose acetate) for repurpose, including park benches and shipping pallets. Learn more about the recycling powerhouse here

‘Unfriendly activities’ to be banned in Koh Samui, Koh Tao, and Koh Phangan

On 18 March 2018, Thailand’s Bangkok Post reported that Koh Samui, Koh Tao, and Koh Phangan will ban ‘unfriendly activities’ which negatively impact local marine environments, including no anchoring at a coral reef, a ban on feeding marine animals, no catching fish, no construction that has harmful consequences on marine and coastal resources, no waste water discharges, and no sea walker activities.
