DrofWhat has been given the Versatile Blogger Award!

This morning I was nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award. I am always so humbled to know that people read & enjoy my blog and being awarded the Versatile Blogger award was seriously such a nice surprise. Lisa from https://inascienceworldblog.wordpress.com/ was who nominated me, so I am sending a huge thankyou to her! If you haven’t checked out her blog or Instagram yet, please do so. Like me she is a PhD student and she blogs about her PhD journey, science, and science communication (among other things).

What is the Versatile Blogger Award?

This award allows bloggers to nominate other bloggers who they find inspiring, interesting, and talented. It is a way to spread the love between bloggers.

As I have been nominated, I am now lucky enough to get to choose two other bloggers for the award.

…….DRUMROLL PLEASE……

Conservation Krissy!

Kristina’s blog, ‘Conservation Krissy’ is one of my favourites. She writes about science, conservation, her zero waste journey, and she also shares other conservationist’s stories in her ‘TRAIL BLAZER TUESDAY’ segment. Her blog is filled with gorgeous photos, well written stories, and endless conservation knowledge!

Hairwonderfulday!

http://hairwonderfulday.com/

Laura (the brains & hair) behind Hairwonderfulday is a PhD student studying in the UK. She is a hair scientist who shares all about her PhD journey, her hair knowledge, and hair tips on her blog. Laura’s blog is beautiful and has taught me so much about hair (all backed by science which I think is so cool). You will also most likely get hair envy when you see how healthy and shiny her hair is!

To fulfill my duty as a Versatile Blogger Award winner, it’s time to share 7 random facts about me:

1.       I never could have imagined that I would be a PhD student:

Never in a million years would I have imagined that I would be a PhD student… let alone a PhD student in the field of conservation. I started my psychology degree assuming I would become a psychologist- not a Conservation Psychologist studying shark conservation! I never overly enjoyed science at high school, but I now absolutely love what I do.

2.       I loooooove potato:

If I had to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life it would be potato, I am obsessed. I even got given a potato for KrisKringle last year!

3.       I am afraid of flying:

Ever since I was young I have been afraid of flying in planes. I have got slightly less fearful, but I still very much dislike flying. I however deal with it to get to amazing places!

4.       I am not really sure what I want to do when I finish my PhD:

My office friend and I were discussing how we often forget that we have to find a job after a PhD, I think you kind of get so consumed with everything that it feels like you will be doing a PhD forever. Therefore I don’t think too much about the future. I am currently thinking that I would like to go down the academia road as I really enjoy teaching & researching, or I may like to work in industry, or science communication (so many options!- I told you it was hard to decide).

5.       I am unsure if I will finish my PhD in “time”:

I am halfway through my PhD (in terms of time) but definitely not half way in terms of work. My current aim is to hand up within 3 & a half years (fingers crossed!).

6.       My partner & I purchased our first home this year:

A couple of months ago my partner and I purchased our very first home after years of saving & renting. I love being able to decorate and make it feel like a real home. It is a little stressful with money but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

7.       I love going on adventures (no matter how small):

Since the tagline of my blog is “studying & adventuring”, you would assume that I enjoy adventuring and you would be correct. I try to get out and about in nature as often as I can, and I am always happy to just go on small (1 or 2 night) adventures. Hopefully I will be able to go on some bigger ones in the coming years also.
